I am always looking for new ways to keep traffic coming to my sites.
One thing that I have realized is that this isn’t a simple process. You
don’t submit your site to search engines once, and be done with it.
Getting traffic to your site is an ongoing process that you should
dedicate a little time to each and every day.
Kay Green, from My Precious Kid shares with us some great tips
for getting that traffic flowing:

1. TELL THEM HOW - Make your web site inviting with enough
information and resources to keep your traffic coming back. Do not
have too many gadgets or distracting things on the opening page.
Add things to bring them back. Once there, make sure they can see

2. CONTESTS - Run a contest to get new site visitors. I run my
quarterly contest for newsletter signups - which give me 3 months to
reach them 3 times with my products and specials. Get this page

4. NEWSLETTER - I do a monthly newsletter to 1000 parents
where I share articles, tips, recipes, and ideas on my area. I also
offer a coupon code for a discount on one of my products and
promo new products in that issue. I use yahoo groups to send
this out. Then I create page on my site for each newsletter. Then
I create a newsletter directory for a year s worth of newsletters.
5. RESOURCES - Create a page listing resources your customers
might like. Keep it relevant to your site and target audience. What
information would your target audience be looking for.
6. FREE E-BOOKS to download. Write it yourself or get mine

7. DONATIONS - DONATE a product as a prize for a contest on
another site. This gives you a LINK BACK. Often the owner will ask
the entrant to visit your site to answer a question. The winner gets to
try your products for free and may come back to order again.
8. LINK SWAP - Do LINK exchanges with other web sites that
have similar customers. Create a LINKS page where you put other
sites text link and description. Create a LINK TO US Page with a
form they can fill out to be added to your site.
9. AFFILIATE - Offer an free affiliate program. Mtracker offers free
tracking at http://www.mals-e.com See mine at
And affiliate program allows you to pay a commission to other sites
for selling your products.
10. BROWSER EXCHANGE - Do browser open exchanges like
http://www.wahmhits.com or others that target your audience. This
puts your site in front of other site owners. My site ahs gained
13,000 views this way.
11. DOMAIN EMAIL - Use your URL email for all correspondence.
People will remember what my url is when I use
Kay@mypreciouskid.com rather than email@example.com
12. DOMAIN - Get your own domain name URL.

http://members.hypermart.net/mypreciouskid.com/index.htm Domains are only $8 a year a well worth the investment. To be looked at as a professional
business, your own domain name I a must.
13. ADVERTISING - Use your advertising dollars wisely. Be sure
you are reaching your targeted audience. Get listed in directories
with high traffic and targeted markets. Barter advertising space with
14. NICHE - Find your niche and stay with it. Become an expert
on one topic rather than every topic. Expert of one is better than
mediocre of many. Do what you do well!!
15. NAVIGATION - Make sure your web site directs your traffic to
where you want them to go. Is it easy to navigate? Do they know
where to go to find what you sell? Have you given them reasons to
buy from you? Do they know how? Have your contact info on
them feel they can trust you.
16. CUSTOMER COMMENTS - Add customer comments that
give new customers a peace of mind in buying from you. Include the
comment maker’s web address or email if possible so they can verify
them. Ask every customer to write a product review in exchange for
a discount on their next purchase.
17. ARTICLES - Write articles on your subject of expertise. Offer
them to newsletters, web sites, and ezines. Your bio line at the end
will include your web site and bring added traffic and increase your
notoriety as an expert in your field.

18. PRESS RELEASE - Write a press release or have it written.
Submit it to all your state radio, TV and newspapers. Post it on your
site. Often you can barter for this service. The best press release
writers also have the ability to submit it for you as well.
19. SITE MAP - Create a small site map summary as text links
on the bottom of your page. Make it easy for your customers to
find what they want on your site. Each key word should link to
that subject on your web page.
20. OFFLINE CONTACTS - Make 10 offline contacts every
day. When you a meet a person give them something that puts
your URL in their hands. Business card, coupon pack, sample,
etc. These offline contacts will bring online traffic. Most people
selling online forget this OFFLINE population they meet every

I love love love finding new business that feature gourmet food, coffees, teas, and the like. Here is a great new find:
This adorable site feels like a gourmet shop you would driving through a quaint little town... However, no need to spend money on gas! You can order their unique teas, coffees, dips, meals, and other food mixes right there online.
They also do fundraisers and have a direct sales program. Fundraisers earn 50% for their organization (plus extras), and consultants earn a 40% commission.
It looks like a very nice consumable product that would do very well at home parties...

I found another great site today that fits a unique niche... If you are looking for some unique Nautical Gifts, then NauticalHome.com is definitely a site you should visit.
This site has some really neat nautical themed gifts and home decor for those you know that have an affinity for the sea. They have some gorgeous sculptures at this site that would make awesome gifts... There are some pricey pieces in there, but I am sure these are pretty big and substantial pieces of art. Here is one that my Mother in Law would absolutely love:
Isn't it pretty? This one is called "Loving Dolphins". NauticalHome.com has all kinds on nautical themed products: clocks, barometers, art, Model Ships, sundials, aquariums, and lots more. My kids saw a model Pirate ship that they thought was so cool... And I saw that they also have corporate gifts!
Their antique globes are AMAZING. They are so pretty... I have always wanted one of these - not too huge mind you, but a nice sized one that looks like it has been around for ages. They have them here - but I will DEFINITELY have to save my pennies. For a loooong while! :)
All in all, this site was easy to navigate, and had some super cool stuff! Definitely worth a visit if you have a boat/sea/lighthouse aficionado on your gift list... :)

Happy Father's Day weekend! What do you all have planned for the Fathers in your lives? We are laying low this weekend, having a nice dinner at home. Dave's Father's Day present this year was tickets to the Rockies/Yankees game in Denver on Tuesday. We can't wait! :)
My wonderful friend Lisa and I are both taking our families (her husband Brent is one of Dave's best friends) and going as a group. It should be fun! You haven't seen REAL baseball until you have seen the Yankees play (my opinion anyway!). So we are really stoked to go.

I love surfing and visiting new sites. Every once in a while I will post a review on what I find... :)
Grace Body Jewelry is a very unique online jewelry store that does not carry your run of the mill, everyday jewelry. This site is a great example of finding your niche, and fitting it well. If you are looking for an engagement ring or a string of pearls, this site isn't for you. However, if you are looking for a cool new Gold navel ring this is your place! :)
Grace Body Jewelry features high quality, Gold body jewelry pieces like toe rings, nose rings, Gold belly rings, and lots of other alternative jewelry selections. This would be a great site to buy a present for that teenager who is hard for - not that I am encouraging them to get body piercings... :)
The site is well organized, has great resources for jewelry selection, and has a secure ordering system. Again, I love how it finds its niche and markets to that niche in a classy manner.
If I were in the market for this type of jewelry, I would definitely consider this site in a heartbeat!
